I came across Carpal Tunnel Syndrome years ago in a newspaper article. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or CTS or median neuropathy at the wrist is a medical condition wherein there is wrist pain due to the compression of the median nerve at the wrist. Symptoms can appear even when sleeping and typically include numbness and burning and/or tingling sensations in the fingers and pain on the wrist. Medical research still do not know the exact cause/s of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome but repetitive activities is commonly blamed for its occurrence.
Initially, I did not think much about CTS until two people I know have undergone surgery to correct their CTS that has gotten worse. Both are office workers and both blamed their repetitive office activities for the occurrence of CTS. Last year, I manifested symptoms similar to that of CTS and worriedly seek the advice of a doctor-friend. Not wanting to take any medication as this will require my hands to rest for weeks (meaning, I have to take leave from work for weeks) and at the same time, wanting to find carpal tunnel relief and prevent its alleviation, my friend advised me to do self-therapy and some preventive exercises, to wit:
