Buying & eating cut fruits

  • Mood:

It happens in Singapore - Waterloo Street .

A 10 year old boy, had eaten pineapple about 15 days back, and fell sick, from the day he had eaten. Later when he had his Health check done... doctors diagnosed that he had AIDS. His parents couldn't believe it...Then the entire family under went a checkup... none of them suffered from Aids. So the doctors checked again with the boy if he had eaten out...The boy said 'yes'. He had pineapple that evening.
Immediately a group from the hospital went to the pineapple vendor to check. They found the pineapple seller had a cut on his finger while cutting the pineapple; his blood had spread into the fruit.

When they had his blood checked...the guy was suffering from AIDS...but he himself was NOT aware. Unfortunately the boy is suffering from it now. Please take care while u eat  cut fruit on the road side. Better cut the fruits by yourself....

True " HIYAS"---- Kadayawn '08

The search for  " Hiyas sa Kadayawan" is one of the most awaited events in every Kadayawan sa Dabaw celebration since the winner embodies the beauty and bounty of the festivity.

The "Hiyas sa Kadayawan" was conceptualized in 1997  and was open to both male and female contestants. In fact, that same year and up to 1998, the Hiyas competition had both male and female winners.

In the following years, the search became a venue for fashion shows and modelling open to female candidates only. This year, it has been turned into showcase of the beauty and culture of the tibes in Mindanao.

Water, water everywhere

  • Mood:

Drinking glass of  water before eating means less food is needed in order for you to feel. full. Water is also a natural diuretic- an intake of water tells the brain that it is going to receive adequate fluid and therefore, less existing water needs to be retained in the body.

Water has no calories- but drinking very cold water can actually cause claories to be burned, since the body must work to raise the  temperature of the water to body temperature. If you don't enjoy drinking water, add slice of lemon or lime, or add a few drops of flavoring extract to an entire pitcher of water and use it to make ice cubes..

Words that hurt our children

I know parents specially mother’s would agree with me about this. We experience this sometimes and not just sometimes perhaps most of the time. Our children won’t stop, won’t listen, won’t do as you say- they’ll sometimes even yell at us. We have pleaded and reasoned with them all day, but all to no avail. We’ve finally had it with our kids misbehaviors, so we end up raising our voice and barking angry words- ultimately leaving our kids feeling hurt and angry. We , on the other end, don’t feel the least bit better either. Guilt feeling was there, I’ve always experience these one. ( Just this morning,  good thing that I didn’t raised my voice coz my daughter doesn’t want to take a bath and wants to go to school on an empty stomach… ggggrrrrr! I know you can relate with me)

Surely, parents don’t always mean what they let out. We may even be times when parents and other adults don’t realize how damaging our words can be.

Listed below are the things according to  many magazines that I’ve read we shouldn’t  say to our child/children :

<!--       1. Bad Girl  or “You’re so________”  instead what we can say is:<!--[endif]-->

a)      “ anak, what you did is not acceptable’  or  “ I think Hannah you owe your brother an apology for breaking his toy”

b)      ‘I’ll help you pack away your toys to give you a head start. But you will have to clean  up the rest on your own.” instead of, “ You’re so lazy!”

2 .‘Not now, I’m busy”—when kids routinely hear these statements from us, they will soon think that Daddy or Mommy does not have time to talk or to be with them—ever.<!--[endif]-->

Instead what we can say is:

“ Mommy has to finish cooking, so I need the two of you to sit down and read quietly for a few minutes. As soon as im done, I’ll call you and we will talk things over, is that okey”  ( I know this is not easy to pull off, but with practice and discipline, it can be done)

.      3.“ Stop crying! You want me to spank you?”--- Threats are rarely effective. More so if the threat only confuses the child with its irony. How can child stops crying if she continues to fear she will get hurt? Studies shows that ordering a child to stop expressing strong emotions sends the message that it is not okay to be sad, angry or scared.

WhWhat we can say:

It is important to acknowledge the child’s emotions when you feel there is something wrong. It takes longer for kids ages 3 to 4 to talk about whats bothering them.

Help them choose the words they need to express themselves. Say ‘ Why are you crying? Were you frightened when Mommy raised her voice ? Mommy was upset too. We can talk now if you want ( When we are angry, I know it is impossible to have the tone of our voice mellow, but I have tried doing this and the feeling is great!) Be sharing more about similar things like these later. O! another thing a pastor once shared to me….. He is not also spared l  from all the experiences that we ‘ve experienced.. He has three (3) boys and we know that they are really hard to handle sometimes especially if they are teenagers already… So, what he always did everytime he is about to get mad or angry he will just call his boys or one of his boys  like this     Gods blessing/s come here, I have something to share with you” . According to him, what we say/or what confess, is what we will possess. If we say negative words to our children, what we will raised is a negative children. CHILDREN are blessing from GOD.

so sad....

While everybody is affected by the increase of not just oil price but i think all the other commodities , some priviledged officials are not. Would you believe they can just request that a certain allowance in kind be converted to cash simply because they cannot consumed such in kind benefit for the month. This situation saddened me, for almost all of us can hardly make both ends meet with other expenditures to settle, ie., childrens enrollment and tuition fees, children's daily allowances, utilities, rentals and other payables and yet there are some who can just served communication asking for such??????

Finding Carpal Tunnel Relief

I came across Carpal Tunnel Syndrome years ago in a newspaper article. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or CTS or median neuropathy at the wrist is a medical condition wherein there is wrist pain due to the compression of the median nerve at the wrist. Symptoms can appear even when sleeping and typically include numbness and burning and/or tingling sensations in the fingers and pain on the wrist. Medical research still do not know the exact cause/s of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome but repetitive activities is commonly blamed for its occurrence.

Initially, I did not think much about CTS until two people I know have undergone surgery to correct their CTS that has gotten worse.  Both are office workers and both blamed their repetitive office activities for the occurrence of CTS. Last year, I manifested symptoms similar to that of CTS and worriedly seek the advice of a doctor-friend. Not wanting to take any medication as this will require my hands to rest for weeks (meaning, I have to take leave from work for weeks) and at the same time, wanting to find carpal tunnel relief and prevent its alleviation, my friend advised me to do self-therapy and some preventive exercises, to wit:

1.       Take breaks from tapping keyboard or typewriter every 15-20 minutes.
2.
Bend wrist at 90-angle and stretch for about 10 seconds.
3.
Alternate tasks as often as you can.
4.
Avoid bending wrists all the way or down and use wristpad while doing computer work.

Imak

The pain subsided for awhile but when I started blogging actively early this year, I can feel the pain coming back. Due to this, I started looking for some alternative carpal tunnel relief. I found IMAK Smart Glove which can be used while doing computer work (which is already starting to get extensive) and I believe, this will help me in my carpal problem.

Refuse to take diet pills

This just alarm me after watching a documentary about  DIET Pills

Please, please, please- do not take diet pills. They along with various other diet products, have far more potential for harm than for good. What good is a skinny body if your organs or body systems are damaged?

Furthermore, the person who relies upon a pill or potion is likely avoidning the real issues assciated with weight management and health- a need for information about good nutrition, to make wiser choices, or to exert willpower. Good results can always be achieved without pills and potions. It is also important to note that tobacco products should never be used as weight-loss aids- they always produce more harm than benefit to the body

Develop a plan for losing weight that does not sabotage your future health

If i really want to lose weight, I would.......

  • Mood:

It's easy to feel deprived when your friends are packing away  the pizza, cheeseburgers, and fries while you stick to the salad bar. That's why a weight-loss program that deprives you of all your favorite foods will not succeed. What can you do?

Make wise compromises; an effective weight-loss plan is not all of one type of food and none  of the other. Try sharing that cheeseburger with someone, and exchange the fries for a small salad or a scoop of cottage cheese and a pineapple slice. Enjoy the half of the cheeseburger you are eating, rather than bemoan the half you aren't eating. You can enjoy all foods.... just not all once!

RIDE THROUGH LIFE

  • Mood:

Special thanks to mam prix,  i grab this from her, hope she wont mind..

Join me on this journey of a lifestyle ...... one ride through life !

15. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra.
16. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince & dinner like a college kid with a maxed out charge card.
17. Smile and laugh more. It will keep the energy vampires away.
18. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
19. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
20. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
21. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
22. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
23. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
24. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, and wear the fancy lingerie (not you guys).. Don't save it for a special occasion.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: "In five years, will this matter?"
27. Forgive everyone for everything.
28.What other people think of you is none of your business.
29.Time heals almost everything..  Give time, time.
30. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
31. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your family and friends will. Stay in touch.
32. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
33. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
34.The best is yet to come.
35. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
36. Do the right thing!
37. Call your family often.
38. Each night before you go to bed complete the following statements: "I am thankful for______. Today I accomplished______.”
39. Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed.
40. Enjoy the ride. Remember that this is not Disney World and you certainly don't want a fast pass. You only have one ride through life, so make the most of it and enjoy the ride.
